For the last couple of years, the central government has been taking several measures to ensure the safety of vehicles. Nitin Gadkari hinted at the new tire manufacturing standards in increasing road safety.
While checking the progress of Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway construction work, he said that with improved highways across the country, vehicle speed has also increased. And now, the tires must sync with international standards to meet performance requirements.
Gadkari added that the government would soon make new norms per the international standard tires to ensure no road accidents due to tire bursts.

Additionally, the Union Minister said the government had developed 32 such highways for improved speed.
As vehicle speed increases with the improved construction of roads, the quality of tires also needs to have higher standards.
Discussing the road construction, Gadkari mentioned that the construction of a 914 km long six-lane economic corridor in Rajasthan would be completed by October this year.
He added that 93% of the 550 km of the 637 km six-lane economic corridor’s construction work has already been completed for Rs 15,000 crore. This six-lane corridor will pass from 15 districts of four states: Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Gujarat.
