According to Yokohama, talking about the tyre market in India, it specifically focuses on tyres with the size between 14 and 17 inches. Yokohama has already accepted the government ban on the import of tyres in India. Hence, it has started focusing on promoting manufacturing of tyres locally.
The company has already extended the limit of its tyres from 17 to 18 inches in size. However, due to increase in demand the manufacturers have aimed to extend the size limit of its tyres to 22 inches.
The upsurge demand in larger tyres has resulted due to rising sales of luxury and premium vehicles. As a result the Japanese tyre makers are all set to extend their current limit of tyre sizes.
Additionally, the company is all set to increase its tyre manufacturing up to 4.5 million from 2.8 million annually. The new Yokohama production line is expected to be set up in 2024 in Visakhapatnam to meet the set target.
