Austrian two-wheeler brand Brixton Motorcycles has officially debuted in India, marking a significant milestone for the brand's global expansion. Partnering with Kolhapur-based KAW Veloce Motors Pvt. Ltd. Brixton aims to cater to India's growing premium motorcycle segment with four distinct offerings. The lineup includes the Crossfire 500X, Crossfire 500XC, Cromwell 1200, and Cromwell 1200X, priced between ₹4.74 lakh and ₹9.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for these motorcycles will commence in January 2025.
Initially, Brixton will import these motorcycles as completely knocked-down (CKD) units for assembly at its Kolhapur facility. This facility, managed by KAW Veloce Motors, represents Brixton's first step toward establishing a local manufacturing presence. Plans for domestic production are already in motion to strengthen its foothold in the competitive Indian market.
The Crossfire 500X and Crossfire 500XC are Brixton’s entry-level motorcycles, designed for riders who seek performance and versatility. Both models are powered by a 486cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 47.6 bhp and 43 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, these motorcycles promise a top speed of 160 km/h and a claimed mileage of 25 km/l.
The Crossfire 500X boasts a café racer-inspired design, featuring a round headlamp, single-piece seat, and 17-inch spoked wheels. Available in Backstage Black and Bullet Silver, it offers a seat height of 795 mm, making it accessible for most riders. Priced at ₹4.74 lakh. This model is ideal for city commuting and highway cruising.
For off-road enthusiasts, the Crossfire 500XC brings a scrambler aesthetic with features like a beak-style mudguard, metal windshield, and side-mounted number boards. With 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels fitted with dual-purpose tires, it provides enhanced stability on rough terrains. Priced at ₹5.19 lakh, this variant is offered in an exclusive Desert Gold paint scheme.
Both models share similar underpinnings, including adjustable KYB suspension, dual-channel ABS, and braking hardware from J.Juan. However, their distinct designs cater to different riding styles, making the Crossfire range versatile for Indian riders.
Brixton’s flagship offerings, the Cromwell 1200 and Cromwell 1200X cater to the neo-retro motorcycle segment. These motorcycles are powered by a 1,222cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine delivering 81.8 bhp and a massive 108 Nm of torque at just 3,100 rpm. They feature a 6-speed transmission, cruise control, and two riding modes: Eco and Sport.
The limited-run Cromwell 1200X, priced at ₹9.11 lakh, is a more rugged counterpart designed for adventure seekers. It features gold rims, knobby tires, a bench seat, and a metal windscreen. Offered in an exclusive Off White paint scheme, only 100 units of this model will be available in India.
Both Cromwell variants share common hardware, including KYB suspension, Nissin brakes, and spoked wheels (18-inch front, 17-inch rear). Their 235 kg kerb weight and 800 mm seat height ensure a stable and comfortable ride for long journeys.
Brixton's lineup underscores the brand's neo-retro design philosophy, blending vintage aesthetics with cutting-edge engineering. From the café racer styling of the Crossfire 500X to the scrambler-inspired Cromwell 1200X, each motorcycle offers a unique identity while maintaining performance and practicality.
Bookings for Brixton motorcycles have commenced with a token amount of ₹2,999 on their official website. Deliveries for all four models will start in January 2025. With competitive pricing, advanced features, and a strategic focus on local production, Brixton is poised to challenge established players in the premium motorcycle segment.
